DATA PRACTICES

Local processing.
Clear boundaries.

Effective 18 October 2026. Publisher: Maxim. Contact: help@perserver.app.

What the extension handles

To fulfil an export you request, Chat Exporter reads the selected conversation or Project, including messages, instructions, metadata, attachments, images and supported visualization source. It also reads the current ChatGPT URL and temporarily uses the active session token and account or workspace identifier. The session response can contain personal identifiers.

Why it handles this data

The extension uses this information only to retrieve your selected content and create local export files. It does not require a separate account. Export generation happens in the browser; there is no developer-operated export backend, advertising SDK or analytics service in the reviewed 1.9.7 source.

Network requests

Local processing is not the same as offline retrieval. The extension requests data from ChatGPT using your existing session and can download known attachment and generated-asset files from addresses referenced by ChatGPT, including external file hosts. General third-party links in search results or citations are not fetched as files during ZIP export. Those hosts receive normal network requests, such as your IP address and requested resource. The reviewed cross-origin download path omits browser credentials and does not attach the ChatGPT bearer token. This extension is not an anonymity tool.

Storage and sharing

Export files are saved to the location chosen by your browser or operating system. Session credentials are used temporarily in memory, not intentionally persisted as extension settings. Chat content and credentials are not sent to the developer. Downloads can contain sensitive information from your conversations; you control where you keep them and who receives them. The extension does not sell this information or use it for advertising or profiling.

Saved export progress

Resumable chat and project ZIP exports store completed content and progress locally in browser storage (IndexedDB). This lets an export resume after closing the tab or restarting the browser. This stored content can include private conversation and file data. Clearing the relevant browser site data can remove the saved progress. Checkpoints are deleted on successful export or when you press Stop; unfinished checkpoints are eligible for cleanup after 14 days when you next open ChatGPT with the extension. Progress is local to that browser profile; this feature does not sync it to a developer server.

Exported HTML

The extension saves supported interactive source without running that source to reconstruct diagrams. If you open exported HTML later, its original scripts may execute and request remote resources. These dependencies belong to the artifact and can affect offline use and data handling.

Your control

Start an export only for the work you want to save. You can stop it, disable or remove the extension, and delete downloaded files using your operating system. Copies in browser download history, cloud-synchronised folders or backups follow those systems’ settings.

This website and support

This website contains no analytics, advertising scripts, tracking cookies or submission form. The site is hosted on Vercel; Vercel and other hosting infrastructure may process standard access and security logs (such as IP address, user agent, requested URL and timestamp) to serve and protect the site. If you email support, the publisher receives the information you voluntarily send. Use it only as described on the support page, and do not send unredacted conversations or session credentials for support.
