Save a ChatGPT conversation as PDF
Create a local visual record of a conversation with formulas, tables and images.
PDF is useful when you want a readable document to keep or share. Chat Exporter generates the document in your browser using the saved conversation, with support for formulas, tables, code and available images.
Create the document
- Open a saved conversation in ChatGPT.
- Choose Download near Share, or use the chat or browser context menu.
- Select PDF and wait for image and page preparation to finish.
- Open the download and check its first page, long tables, formulas and any large images.
Know what PDF preserves
PDF gives you a static visual record. Supported SVG illustrations may appear in the document, but interactive controls and animations do not remain interactive. Choose a full ZIP archive if you want the supported visualization source files.
Choose Markdown for editable text
The local PDF renderer prioritises appearance. Search and text selection may be limited in the resulting document. Markdown is the better choice for editing, searching or reusing the transcript in other software. If local PDF generation cannot finish, the extension retains a browser print fallback.
When something is missing
A file must still be accessible through ChatGPT to be downloaded. Sign in to the correct account, refresh the conversation and try again. If you need an inventory of the available files and unavailable resources, export a ZIP and check its manifest.
